French exchange - day trip to Paris

Today, we hit the road in direction of Paris and after a long journey made worse by the inevitable traffic jams, we were given a tour of the city that enabled us to discover all the main landmarks, such as the Stade de France, the Defense business district, the Eiffel Tower, the Assemblée Nationale, etc.

Then, we took a break in the Tuileries gardens for lunch and we managed a quick group photo (and group video) before the rain started to fall.

Did someone fall at the front?

The next item on the agenda was the Arc de Triomphe, at the top of the Champs Elysées.

We were warned from the start about the challenge facing us: quite a few steps and a height of 50 metres.

This is what the staircase looked like from the top!

However, once at the top, the view was stunning despite the fog and low clouds.

Time for a few poses:

Notice the stripy shirts in an effort to blend in with the locals!

A pretty enjoyable (but tiring) day despite the weather.

Finally, one of our students wishes a very Happy Birthday to her Mum, despite not being at home for the second consecutive year because of the exchange. Joyeux Anniversaire nonetheless!
