French Exchange - visit to Paris

Yesterday, Tomlinscote and NDP students got the opportunity to spend the whole day together as part of our day trip to Paris. It was another early start and after a 2 and a half hour coach journey which enabled British and French students to bond further, we started to discover some of the magnificent landmarks in Paris.

The coach tour of the city included the Stade de France, the Eiffel Tower, the Champs Elysées avenue, Concorde square, the Grand and Petit Palais museums, as well as the Sacré Coeur church, Louvre museum and Notre-Dame cathedral from the distance.

This tour was followed by a picnic prepared by the French families, in the pleasant surroundings of the Tuileries gardens.

Once everyone had enjoyed their lunch, we walked all the way up to the top of the Champs Elysées avenue where we found the Arc de Triomphe and the mad parisian traffic around it. We climbed to the top of the Arc de Triomphe (284 steps!!!) to make the most of the magnificent view that greeted us. This seemed to be one of the highlights of the day for many students.

The rest of the day consisted in some free (shopping?) time on the Champs Elysées and a long journey back (made worse by the traffic jams on the périphérique ring-road).

Everyone awake? Let's go!
