Year 7 Germany Trip - Home!

Well done to all our students! They have represented Tomlinscote beautifully with their polite, enthusiastic and thoughtful behaviour. On the ferry back, there were announcements about children running and making a nuisance of themselves, but I knew with great pride that it was certainly none from our group. It's been a pleasure looking after the youngsters and  showing them around in Germany!

A big thank you to Frau Sparkes for organising and leading the trip, as well as to Frau Davies who looked after coach 2, Mrs Elliot and all staff involved.
Have a relaxing weekend!

Year 7 French trip - home!

Nous sommes rentrés! - We're back!

A big thank you to all the students who came with us for being so wonderful and well-behaved, and especially well done for being brave and really trying out your French!

Have a relaxing weekend and see you on Monday!

Year 7 Germany trip - last day - students' comments

The travelling on the way to Germany and back was a lot better than I would have expected. All of the places that we went to were fun and interesting. We were given lots of freedom when we went to the towns, which was great because then we could walk around with whoever we wanted. We also got to buy what we wanted for lunch meaning that we got food that we liked and that we could try more stuff. Overall the trip was great and fun.

I think that this trip has been very fun. I enjoyed going to phantasia land and the train, the rooms were very nice and pretty. I think next time there should be more staff ( teachers ) around the rooms in case people need them.
 Fran Neill 7G

Apart from several staff patrolling corridors every night, children were told a room where they could find a teacher on duty. In fact, several kids lost some time off Phantasialand because they were caught when they should have stayed in their rooms...(Frau Mahler)

I liked the trip to Germany because we found out new things about it. My favourite part was going to phantasia land because we went on so many rides.    Sade Sherrard-Smith

This trip has been such a great experience. We have seen and have done such great things. Our favourite part of this trip by far is Phantasialand. Also the hotel was wonderful and we loved our  room. And we want to give a big thanks to the teachers who made this possible and prepared it all and put up with us. Lastly we wanted to say thanks for the wonderful disco and also thanks to the staff of the hotel who prepared us tasty meals, made our beds and tidied our rooms. So thanks again for this great experience.

Year 7 Germany Trip - Phantasialand

Today we went to Phantasialand and we went on a lot of really good rides and most of them were really fast, but the small ones were quite fun too. I liked going on Colorado adventure it was very fast and it was my favourite.

Today at Phantasia Land (the best theme park in the world) was pretty much the best day of our lives!!! All the rides were amazing and they are perfect for people our age. There are big rides for the daredevils and also smaller rides for kids. The food there was also epic and it was really nice. The gift shops aren't too expensive and there are plenty of ice cream stalls there too. Basically, it was AWESOME!

It was a very good theme park that was fun especially the fast rollercoasters. I loved the day there! The food was also great.

Year 7 Germany trip - day 4

Today we went to Phantasialand!!!!

We have done a lot of things on this trip, for example we had a disco and it was great fun and there was a lot of good music. We are currently at Phantasia land it has been quite fun so far,my favourite ride has been the runaway train but my least favourite ride has been the Black Mamba. When we got here we had a LOT of fun.

Year 7 trip to France 2014 - day 4.

Today we visited two chateaux - one which was where the King of France lived for a while and the other which was where Leonardo Da Vinci lived! We had a tour of the first chateau and were able to explore the house and gardens of the second.

Between our two visits, we had lunch in the town of Amboise and had time to look round the shops. One shopkeeper described the students as mignons, gentils et polis - sweet, kind and polite!

Here are some photos of our day today:

Year 7 Germany trip -day 3

Coaches swapped activities today, with coach 1 visiting the Realschule for workshops with German pupils, while coach 2 braved the chair lift and found lunch in beautiful Boppard at the river Rhine. In the afternoon, it was the castle and Koblenz.
Our students have been punctual to all meeting points and very considerate when walking around the towns. The Tomlinscote groups were praised by staff at the castle for listening quietly and being interested, and yesterday coach 1 received praise at the chair lift for their mature behaviour (and their stylish dress sense!). The kids are doing us proud (apart from the small but growing number of children who are accumulating time off Phantasialand for various little problems, like noise after bedtime or mess at the dinner table.)
Tonight, we're having our disco, as tomorrow we will have to support England playing against Uruguay.

Today we went on the chair lift, visited the town Boppard an had a tour of the castle. The chair lift was scary at first but then when you get used to it, it was fine; the best part was the amazing views. In Boppard, the town trail was interesting but sometimes hard to understand the German. After that, The tour of the castle was very interesting and factual about the middle ages. Overall, the highlight of the day for me was the chair lift due to the amazing views; I am looking forward to going to Fantasia  Land tommorow, it will be great.

Today we went to a wonderful German girl's school. They were very nice and friendly, also they spoke good English. After that we went to a beautiful town where we brought lunch and presents. And finally we went to the confluence where two rivers meet, it was brilliant because we could climb to the top of the statue and look at the great view, we had a wonderful day.

Today we went to a Christian school that had a huge church. The people stayed in the same building as the church, and it was all girls. The actual school building was quite large as well, and they had two sand volleyball courts and a swimming pool. After that we walked to the nearest town and spent two hours there. There were beggars on the street, though they didn't look that poor. I enjoyed the fact that we were allowed to go round with our friends.

Year 7 trip to France 2014 - Day 3.

Bonjour à tous! - Hi everyone!

Today we have been to La Rochelle where we had some free time to have a look round the town and get some lunch, practising our French along the way! Then we headed to the famous aquarium to see the weird and wonderful creatures of the sea. All in all, we had a great day! Here are some photos:

Year 7 Germany Trip -day 2 again

Tuesday evening, we had a yummy brokkoli soup (no, really!), Bratwurst, mash and red cabbage which most students at least tried.
Later, Dave (the coach 1 driver) volunteered for some evening entertainment and led through the talent show (you try getting the mic away from him again!). Brave participants included 'Deutsch Crew' with an impressions act, Ellie, Fran and Trinity singing and Kirsty wowing the audience with a fantastic dance routine.
The winner, as crowned by the judges was the energetic dance by Ashleigh. Well done to all performers!

The trip is really good so far. The food is really good and the entertainment is really funny.  The talent show was good because of he funny acts.  The sausages were reall nice but i didnt really like the curry sauce.  Kai Mahoney was really funny as he couldnt perform his act, he was trying to laugh but couldnt.  Time has flown by.

Year 7 trip to France 2014 - day 2 evening.

Yesterday evening we went to see the laser show at Futuroscope, and it was fantastic! While waiting for the show to start, we practised singing 'Frère Jaques' and had our own little audience watching from around the amphitheatre!

Then the show kicked off with beautiful music, figures dancing round the lake and even fireballs and fireworks. Have a look at our photos:

Year 7 Germany trip - Day 2 - coach 1

Coach 1 went on to explore the town of Boppard and found lunch and souvenirs, before driving up the windy road to the Marksburg to visit the castle.
In the afternoon, coach 2 saw das Deutsche Eck (the German corner) where the river Mosel flows into the Rhine and Ms Steven led a group dance of the Macarena...
